Why is your app down?

The first applications I made for 1 App A Day in May was "Who wants to be Rich". It was a fun quiz game that took less then 1 day to make. It was a lot of fun and I had a lot of people using it. I also had a lot of people posting questions. Well that only lasted for 16 days because I got an email from the copyright owners of Who wants to be a Millionaire and it basically stated that I was infringing on the copyrights and had to take the game down. It also stated that I had to destroy all the code and take down any links pointing to the game. I did that immediately because I didn't want to get into any trouble. ( there are still links from other sites that I have no control over) I replied to the letter stating that I have taken the game down and that I wanted to resolve the issue completely. That was a week ago and I have not herd from them since. I am hoping that this is behind me and I can continue to make fun apps and games for the iPhone. As far as the game, I do not mind destroying the code seeing as it was very easy to build and it is nothing special. Sorry to all of you that liked to play the game. It was a good one. Please comment on how you feel about this issue.

On to some more happy news, It is day 22 and I am scrambling for ideas. It has been a very frustrating month. Between work, family and apps, I have not had 10 minutes to myself. Although it has been hard, I will probably miss it when it is over. Here are some stats.I have had 130,000 unique visitors to the apps and I got 2 Staff Picks on Apples Site. Al thought I had to take one of them down :-)

Enjoy the apps and I would like to hear any comments on how I can improve them because I will want to go over each app next month.

Dude this sucks. This was a very cool game. I would play this game all night with my son and husband, and before going to sleep. Check almost every night to see if it's back up again. I hope this issue I'd resolved soon so the game could be reposted.

For the short time I did play, I found it quite entertaining. I'm sorry to see it go. Perhaps, a similar game can be created without the obvious similarities.
I had wondered about the infringement, but figured you weren't really making money off the game itself, it shouldn't be an issue. It should've been viewed more as a tribute to the show's success, not come down on the little guy. However, since they are a money pit, they have the means to shut you and others like you, down. Greedy bastards!
good luck and I look forward to more fun apps such as the "rich" one.

Well, leave it to the greedy, spineless, mindless minions of corporate America to squash any attempt by us lowly shmucks to have some innocent fun. I am amazed, positively AMAZED, that the people who own the rights to the game Yahtzee (Parker Brothers or Milton Bradley, I'm sure) haven't tried to sue the crap out of all the near-copies of THAT game. This whole whole thing just makes me sorry to be in the same genus and species as the morons that call themselves "corporate men". It's sickening.

You have handled this whole thing with a remarkable amount of grace, more, in fact, than I would have were I you. Maybe someday soon you'll come up with a great game that they can't harass you for. Hope so. Peace.

Hey dude, I'm so sorry to hear that but don't worry this is big shame for that program who has sent you that stupid warning letter because from my point of view there was nothing wrong with yours one and I'm so sorry those people who thinks this this briliant game was against their rights. Anyway get going mate hope you are already got over it and please don't be panic because they know already that you can do better than then and I think this is what they have been worried about.

All The Best
